At last night's School Board meeting, the Board voted to place a referendum on the November 5 ballot seeking $19.4 million annually to protect and enhance educational programs and student services. The referendum would support the district’s new investment plan to “Ignite Student Learning.” Guided by feedback from residents, this plan was developed to stabilize our operating budget, strengthen our curriculum, and support the programs that will ensure our students are ready for life after graduation. Check out these happy kids! ❤️❤️❤️ Today Mrs Kraske's Creative Writing class went to Mrs. Lash’s kindergarten class at Washington. The kindergarteners made monsters. The JM students asked them questions about their monsters to write a story about each of them. Then we went back and gave them the stories.

The First Annual John Marshall Soup Contest is in the books and was a success! We had some good food, and some laughs, and raised some money for the Relay For Life. After all of the votes were counted, counted again, and recounted, the winner of the first annual John Marshall soup contest was, DRUM ROLL PLEASE, Ms. Stephanie Oxley for her Curry soup. When asked if she would share the recipe, Steph was quick to say, "I sure will! It is a combination of everything from my refrigerator with curry in it." There you have it, The Martha Stewart of John Marshall struck again.
