What is Step Into Learning?

Step Into Learning is an altered start to the traditional start of the school year. Some of our elementary schools,  Bamber Valley, Bishop, Churchill | Hoover, Elton Hills, Folwell, Franklin, Montessori at Franklin, Gibbs, Jefferson, Lincoln, Overland, Pinewood, Sunset Terrace, and Washington,, will use the first two days of school, September 6^th and 7^th, as student conference days.

Parents and guardians will make an individual 30-minute appointment in August (be watching for communication from your individual school soon). During this appointment, parents and guardians will have the opportunity to meet their child’s teacher(s), have their child assessed, visit with the school nurse, set up their lunch accounts, explore the school’s PTSA and more. Schools participating in Step Into Learning will not have SACC available on September 6^th and 7^th. The first full day of school for students grades K-5 will be September 8^th. 

Elementary Schools not participating in Step Into Learning will host Meet the Teacher nights. Information on these events will be sent by individual schools.

What is Meet Me in the Middle?

Meet Me in the Middle is a program designed to help ensure a calm and supportive orientation experience for all students new to RPS middle schools. Students new to middle school will meet teachers, learn the lunch and locker routines and navigate the building and transportation with fewer peers in attendance. This is our way of creating a safe, welcoming and successful middle school foundation.

What is First Day of 9th Grade?

The First Day of 9th Grade is exactly how it sounds, it's the first day for our 9th grade students to experience the transition to high school. Students have the school day to get comfortable with their new schedules, ask questions, learn the layout of the building, and meet their peers. The first day of school for all High School students will be September 7^th.
